The BAC is not only surviving the current economic times, we are
celebrating a year of innovative programming. Our 2010 Humanity Series
increased the visibility, the excitement and the relevance of the BAC,
featuring three separate exhibits focusing on gender issues, race, and
faith. Our upcoming program, Children of the Military: Life in
Transition is an exciting opportunity for children in our military
community to participate in the exhilarating process of making art, to
build lasting relationships between the military community and the art
community, and to allow military children to learn self expression
during a potentially difficult time in their lives.
The Business of Art Center (BAC) offers a stimulating and
provocative environment for artists and for the patrons and supporters
who believe in the joy of experiencing art. The BAC has continued to
fulfill its mission for over twenty years: to create an environment in
which the artist can flourish…to help artists pursue their careers in a
successful, professional manner…and to contribute to the cultural
development of Manitou Springs and the entire Pikes Peak region. With
incredible backing from all facets of the community, the Business of Art
Center (BAC) opened its doors in October of 1988. A dream came true.
Manitou Springs City Planner Paul Intemann imagined a business incubator
for artists here in Colorado, using the Torpedo Factory Art Center in
Alexandria, Virginia as a model. The BAC is situated in two renovated
landmark buildings in the Manitou Springs National Historic District.
The original BAC building (Studio 513) provides 13,000 square feet of
professionally equipped studios, housing more than twenty artists, three
exhibition spaces, a retail shop and classroom space. The historic
Venue 515, opened in 2001, includes The Canvas Café and Spencer Hall,
which hosts live theater, music, conferences and special events.
Your donation to the BAC will provide:
• support for up and coming artists
• professional art studios
• excellent art education for children and adults
• live music in an intimate environment
• special event space for community members
We respectfully ask that you consider returning your membership donation to the BAC by December 31, 2010.
Thank you for supporting the Business of Art Center! |
