At this intensive workshop based on Frank’s 40 years of pottery production you’ll learn how to improve your pots, increase your skill level and work to reflect your personal style. 11/27/10                    "New Works" by Sarah Milteer
Sarah Milteer is originally from the North West Highlands of Scotland.  She obtained her Bachelor of Art degree from Glasgow School of Art. Sarah now lives in Colorado Springs, painting people and landscapes from both Scotland and the U.S. “New Works,” features individuals prominent in the Colorado Springs art scene and some from across the water.

"FEMME" is an exhibit highlighting ten exceptionally talented artists, all in differing stages of their careers.  All the artists happen to be women.  The exhibit includes work from Laura Bearl, Jean Gumpper, Theresa Haberkorn, Margaret Kasahara, Liz McCombs, Heather Oelklaus, Linda Ryan, Patty Smithsonian, Bonnie Waugh, and Dawn Wilde.

10/09/10                    Clay Relief Sculpting Workshop
Clay relief gives the impression of a three-dimensional structure. Students will combine drawing and carving to create 8” x 8” tiles to be used for wall accents, house numbers, hot plates, etc. Students need to bring designs to class and clay tools, optional. Tuition covers clay, tools, finishing and firing. All skill levels welcome. Instructed by Harriet Lee.

The local student-run promotions company C. Sheily Entertainment will host “Tasty Tunes,” a night of Manitou Springs’ most delicious desserts and best folk alternative sound. The Business of Art Center Presents: Visual Pheromones by Nadine Sage.  Nadine’s artwork adorns the walls of private residences, museums, and galleries throughout the United States and her work is exhibited nationally. Encouraging a renewed appreciation for the master illustrators of the past, Nadine Sage integrates 18th and 19th century bird, animal, insect, sea life and botanical imagery with decorative components and oil pastels.

The Business of Arts Center and ROLLbikeart.com are proud to present the 6th Annual ROLL Bike Art Festival. ROLL brings its mystique to Manitou in 2010 with a giant Saturday featuring BMX magic for kids of all ages. ROLL takes place at Venue 515 and flatland BMX pro James Macgraw is set to perform for youth at 11 a.m., August 14th.

The Business of Art Center in Manitou Springs is delighted to present part three of their Humanities Series: TRIBE is an examination of race and culture in our society through the eyes of some of the region's most talented artists. Also opening is “Overlooked and Underfoot” a look at some of the common but beautiful plants of Colorado by Julie Sprinkle, and “RARE,” a traveling exhibition of the imperiled plants of Colorado by Marjorie Joy.

On March 1st, the Business of Art Center will host “Movin’ and Groovin’ Mondays”, a weekly dance class teaching the style of Ballroom dancing for the first six weeks, then moving to the always sizzling Latin style of dance. Don't miss this wonderful culturally-diverse concert from Soulmate, a blues band from India, performing in the evening after Manitou Springs' annual Mardi Gras celebration.
Opening the show will be Saptak, performing traditional Indian music. Known for performances at the annual Diwali Festival of Lights event. Saptak highlights the rich cultural heritage of India.

The Business of Art Center will host a Yoga Rhythm Course with Charli Sales, the creator of Yoga Rhythm. This three day course is suitable for all, but is a fantastic opportunity for Yoga Teachers wanting to find fresh inspiration for their own classes and gain confidence teaching more challenging postures. Teachers will also learn great techniques on how to progress their students safely, and learn how to push those boundaries.

03/07/10                    Homo Reus Taboo
This exhibition's attempt is to be controversial, inviting the audience to contemplate what subjects are taboo and what has real meaning in their lives. "Homo Reus" translates as "accused man," or "guilty human." The term is Latin and is taken from the Lacrimosa section of the Requiem Mass. (We are pushing the boundaries and not breaking the law.)
